KOESTER KSK SY 15

KOESTER KSK SY 15 is a bituminous membrane made up of two layers. The first layer consists of a highly tear-resistant, double-laminated polyethylene film, combined with a flexible bitumen-rubber sealing compound. It is designed for use in both vertical and horizontal waterproofing applications in construction, in accordance with DIN 18195 standards. This membrane is suitable for insulating foundation slabs, basement walls, wet rooms, balconies, terraces, and more. KSK SY 15 can be directly applied over styrofoam. It is self-adhesive, meaning it does not require heating with hot air or a gas torch. The product is highly flexible, waterproof immediately after application, and resistant to rainfall. The membrane covers cracks in the substrate and is impermeable to gases such as radon and methane. It complies with PN EN 13969:2005 (U) standards.

Substrate The substrate must be clean, strong, dry, even, free of defects, gravel pockets, and sharp edges. The membrane can be applied to mineral substrates, styrofoam, or OSB boards. In the case of waterproofing brick foundation walls, the joints must be filled with mortar. Any gaps in the substrate should be filled, for example, with KÖSTER Sperrmortel. A primer should be applied using KÖSTER Voranstrich BL (approximately 0.25 kg/m²) or bituminous liquid membrane KÖSTER KBE Flussigfolie (thin layer, approximately 0.25 kg/m²). For porous substrates, priming should be done twice, ensuring the primer layer is completely dry. The KÖSTER KSK SY 15 membrane should be applied on the same day. At the junction of vertical and horizontal insulation, as well as at the corner of the foundation footing, a chamfer (radius 4-6 cm) should be applied with KÖSTER Sperrmortel. The chamfer must dry before priming (minimum drying time: 24 hours).
