HERTALAN ks143 is a single-component, ready-to-use polyurethane adhesive with an organic solvent, specifically designed for bonding Hertalan EPDM membranes to various substrates on flat surfaces. Ideal for securing the center of EPDM sheets, it ensures a durable and effective bond. With its easy application and high performance, HERTALAN ks143 provides reliable moisture protection.

Properties of HERTALAN ks143:

• Single-component polyurethane adhesive: Ready to use without mixing.
• Organic solvent-based formula: Designed for bonding EPDM strips and sheets on flat surfaces.
• Compatible substrates: Heavy and light concrete, un-sanded bituminous roof insulation, bitumen-laminated insulation materials, and wood.
• Not suitable for: Direct bonding to polystyrene foams and soft PVC.
• Application temperature: From +5°C in dry weather conditions.
• Temperature resistance: From -40°C to +80°C once fully cured.
• Color: Golden-yellow.
• Curing time: Approximately 48 hours to achieve full strength.
• Consumption: Around 225 g/m² with single-sided application.
• Shelf life: 12 months in unopened packaging, stored in dry and cool conditions.

Application:

HERTALAN ks143 is ready to use without any additional mixing. The adhesive should be applied in strips with a minimum diameter of 8 mm in a longitudinal direction, ensuring at least 50% surface coverage. Substrates must be flat, dry, clean, and free of oils, grease, and sharp objects (stones, glass, etc.). Apply in dry weather with a minimum ambient temperature of +5°C.

Before placing the EPDM membrane on the adhesive-coated surface, allow the adhesive to evaporate for 5 to 20 minutes to avoid air bubble formation. The tack time may vary depending on external temperatures. Avoid excessive adhesive application during rain to ensure proper handling within the 5–20-minute window.

Curing:

The full curing time depends on external temperature and humidity. Maximum mechanical strength is achieved approximately 48 hours after application, at which point the adhesive can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +80°C.

Consumption:

Average consumption is approximately 225 g/m² with single-sided application, ensuring 50% surface coverage. On absorbent substrates, ensure sufficient adhesive application to achieve proper adhesion and durability.
