February 4, 2022PASSIVE FIRE-RESISTANT SOLUTIONS FOR PENETRATIONS AND LINEAR JOINTS
Bostik Fire Protect is a comprehensive, fully certified, and approved range of passive fire protection products designed for use in movement joints, linear gaps, openings, or penetrations in fire-rated partitions.
Passive fire protection products are utilized in building constructions as primary safeguards to limit the spread of fire, heat, and smoke, providing significantly enhanced fire resistance. Correct application of these products ensures compliance with essential legal requirements for fire-rated partitions. These solutions contribute to maintaining the structural stability of buildings and provide the necessary time for safe evacuation or firefighting operations. Passive fire protection effectively slows the spread of fire and smoke, reducing the risk of fire crossing between zones.
The creation of fire zones within a building is a fundamental component of passive fire protection. The primary goal of these measures is to restrict the spread of smoke and fire to adjacent zones in the event of a fire, thereby slowing the progression of the fire. This approach ensures that occupants can safely evacuate the building and that emergency services have adequate time to respond and extinguish the fire. As passive fire protection gains prominence in both new and renovated buildings, Bostik has focused on developing innovative solutions for this market segment.
With extensive expertise in linear joint solutions (EN 1366-4), we proudly introduce the Fire Protect range, which also includes products designed for openings and penetrations (EN 1366-3).

FP 310 Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic
Bostik FP 310 Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic is a single-component acrylic sealant designed for fire protection applications. It prevents the spread of fire and smoke through joints and openings in fire-rated walls and floors, including those created for building service penetrations.
The sealant expands when heated, forming an effective barrier against fire, smoke, and gas. Upon exposure to atmospheric conditions, the sealant hardens while maintaining the flexibility required for joint movement. When exposed to fire, Bostik FP 310 Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic creates a robust fire-resistant barrier, forming a protective carbon char that prevents the passage of fire and smoke for up to 4 hours. The product also offers excellent acoustic insulation and has been extensively tested on a variety of penetrations and partition types.

BOSTIK FP 311 INTUMESCENT GRAPHITE (Available on Order)
Bostik FP 311 Intumescent Graphite is an advanced fire-resistant sealing compound designed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and gases through openings in fire-rated walls and floors. This single-component, water-based sealant contains a high concentration of graphite that expands when exposed to heat.
The sealant reacts to fire by expanding and sealing gaps around flammable pipes (e.g., PVC) or metal pipes with flammable insulation. It is particularly suitable for fire protection in challenging areas where traditional fireproof sealants cannot adequately seal large-diameter plastic pipes. Additionally, Bostik FP 311 Intumescent Graphite provides excellent acoustic insulation.

BOSTIK FP 320 FIRE BATT
Bostik FP 320 Fire Batt is a high-density stone wool board coated with Bostik FP 312 Fire Retardant Coating. The board is designed to restore the fire resistance of walls and floors when their integrity is compromised by one or more installations passing through them. The Bostik FP 312 Fire Retardant Coating provides additional protection by significantly reducing the permeability of the stone wool core and preventing the penetration of hot gases. This helps to limit the temperature rise on the unexposed side and reduces heat transfer through installations passing through the partition. The Bostik FP 320 Fire Batt should be installed in the partition with the edges sealed using Bostik FP 310 Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic. All service installations passing through the board must also be sealed with the same sealant.
