Frequently Asked Questions
In recent months, we have received various questions regarding renovation and thermal insulation. Whether these inquiries came from construction groups, forums, or private messages, we provided answers that often turned into technical consultations. We have compiled your questions along with brief answers.
Feel free to contact us for additional questions at +48 796 343 313 or a.kaczmarczyk@sanier.pl.
We have also prepared a series of waterproofing and renovation training sessions that we conduct year-round. You can find a list of upcoming sessions in the Courses and Training section.
RENOVATION
Can any type of exterior paint be applied to renovation plaster?
For renovation plasters, use polysilicate paints (based on water glass) or paints specifically designed for renovation plasters.
Is it enough to simply dry and repaint a damp wall?
A damp wall must first be cut off from the sources of moisture.
Can an old facade without cracks or holes but with visible green stains be refreshed just by repainting?
Algae must be removed. Washing the facade with appropriate cleaning agents eliminates algae and dirt, refreshing the surface.
Does latex paint contain latex?
Contrary to its name, latex paint does not contain latex. Instead, it has a high content of synthetic resins. Latex paints are known for their increased resistance to scrubbing and washing.
Is screed the same as concrete leveling compound?
No, screed refers to a smooth wall finish layer, typically applied in a 2–3 mm thickness. Concrete leveling compound, on the other hand, refers to a floor screed or subfloor layer.
THERMAL INSULATION
Is it worth investing in insulation if we only heat the house for a few months a year?
Proper thermal and waterproof insulation is essential.
Does it matter whether you replace the boiler first or insulate the walls and roof?
Improving the thermal insulation properties of a building will reduce heating costs.
Is the thermal conductivity coefficient lambda (λ) the only important factor when choosing and installing thermal insulation?
This is a myth. The effectiveness of thermal insulation largely depends on the precision of its installation and the tightness of the connections between insulation components.
